USB-IF_Computex-articleUSB is the de facto standard for device charging and connectivity for billions of devices worldwide. As USB Type-C™ adoption continues, the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) is dedicated to ensuring that the industry possesses the right tools for a thriving USB ecosystem. New developments include the Certified USB Charger Compliance and Logo Program, establishing USB chargers and fast chargers for compliant USB Type-C™ devices such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, docking stations, displays and other products.
The Certified USB Charger Program supports the evolving device market; as more products adopt USB Type-C™ and USB Charging. IHS predicts that more than 5 billion devices will use USB Type-C™ by 2021. With this in mind, it is important that consumers can trust that the products they purchase are reliable, safe to use and interoperable.
OEMs are encouraged to submit their products for certification and display the authoritative USB-IF logos on their packaging and end products, and consumers are advised to seek out products with certified USB-IF logos when making purchasing decisions.
USB-IF is a highly trusted organization within the industry, with more than 1,000 member companies globally – 19% of which are located right here in Taiwan. Developers are encouraged to visit http://www.usb.org to understand the benefits of submitting their products to the USB-IF compliance program and to learn how to get involved.
