Global gaming platform ZOTAC CUP has returned to COMPUTEX and is fighting for a cause this year with the ZOTAC CUP Fight for Charity League of Legends Tournament. In the Grand Finals, five finalists are to face five international influencers in a “League of Legends” competition to decide to which charity the lion’s share of the US$100,000 charity prize pool will go.

DSC08251The competition is supporting five international charitable organizations to help those in need: the Esports Foundation, Gaming-Aid, the Make-A-Wish foundation, MERCY Malaysia and the Oaktree Foundation. Online qualifiers for Asia, Europe and the Americas each produced three winners, who faced off with six local influencers — MMD, Eggroll, 7Z, WeiWei, Toyz and Gear — in the semifinals on May 28-29 at ZOTAC’s booth (M0820) at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1.

On Thursday, May 30, the Grand Finals began with the five victors of the semifinals facing five international influencers — Voyboy, Kaypea, CooLifeGame, Zong Guan and Hao Kai — in 5v5 Howling Abyss, 5v5 Summoner’s Rift and several round-of-8 1v1 matches. In the initial best-of-three, blind-pick Howling Abyss series, Team ZOTAC came out swinging and quickly demonstrated their dominance over the competition with two decisive wins, despite having to overcome a language barrier.

DSC08262The action continues on Friday from 11:00 am with round two of 5v5 Howling Abyss, followed by round two of Summoner’s Rift, two rounds of 3v3 Twisted Treeline and the 1v1 semifinals. The tournament ends on Saturday, starting at 11:00 am with the 1v1 finals, followed by two rounds of 5v5 Summoner’s Rift early in the afternoon.

For those unable to see the Grand Finals in person, they will be live-streamed on the ZOTAC CUP Twitch channel, with English commentating by Jake “Spawn” Tiberi, Matthew “Fish” Stewart and Rikki “Riku” Quiapon, while Scott and Jwell will be the Chinese casters.

ZOTAC is providing the official gaming platform for the tournament: the MEK MINI. A diminutive gaming PC that packs a big punch, the MEK MINI is powered by a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card and an Intel Core processor. Other official competition hardware includes ZOTAC GAMING’s Cougar Armor S Gaming Chair; Logitech G headsets, keyboards, mice and webcams; and a gaming monitor by Viewsonic.
The MEK MINI is on display at ZOTAC’s booth, which features the firm’s latest products, including the new ZBOX MI553B, an ideal solution for the broadcasting sector powered by an Intel Core processor, with video capture functionality provided by an Avermedia M.2 capture card.
