Delegates show great interest in game industry and smart city technologies

As part of its goal to provide business support for emerging countries like Mongolia and Jordan, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) delegation is looking for business-to-business (B2B) partnerships with Taiwanese enterprises. The 31-member delegation, which represents 24 companies from 10 countries, expressed great interest in the gaming industry and AI technologies at one-on-one procurement meetings at COMPUTEX TAIPEI, which kicked off at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 1 on Tuesday, May 28.
“EBRD provides finance and business consultations for helping business growth and development. As COMPUTEX TAIPEI is the 2nd-largest ICT event in the world, an increasing number of companies have joined the event this year,” said Nari Been, the principal of the SME Finance and Development Group of the EBRD. Being both buyers and distributors, most delegates look for technology cooperation as well as to discover new technology for import to their countries. “Taiwan is one of the strongest countries in the ICT sector such as mobile, software and chip. It’s a good opportunity to explore market trends and potential business partners,” Been added.
d201 Coming to COMPUTEX TAIPEI for the 2nd year, Next Group, a distributor of electronics and IT goods based in Mongolia, hopes to build B2B partnerships and search for IT solution providers. “We wanted to understand the IT industry during the first visit last year. After introducing warehousing strategies and IT solutions successfully, we have come to Taiwan again to focus on the latest tech trends in the gaming industry,” said Chuluunbold Lkhamsuren, president of Next Group.
With the flourishing development of the gaming industry in Mongolia, Next Group’s target consumers are young people aged around 25. To meet consumers’ needs, Next Group is particularly interested in gaming products and suppliers. Praising the strength of Taiwan’s ICT products., Lkhamsuren said production costs in Western countries such as Germany and the US are quite expensive, whereas the product quality of Chinese manufacturers is unreliable. By contrast, Taiwanese manufacturers offer a good combination of reasonable price and high quality. “We are looking forward to having more cooperation with Taiwanese companies like Acer and Asus,” Lkhamsuren said.
MOSECO Group, a leading systems integrator in the Middle East, is a newcomer on the EBRD business-matching trip. Wael Abbas, the business development manager of MOSECO Group, highlights their focus on IT solutions providers. As a services provider, MOSECO Group supports diverse telecommunication infrastructure solutions. “We would like to meet every supplier so we can select the best price and better solutions in terms of fiber technology and 5G networks,” Abbas said. Owing to highly advanced development in AI technology, more and more companies are coming to Taiwan and learning about the “smart city” concept. “We are aiming to improve our capabilities and market competitive position by contracting and partnering with the right technology vendors in Taiwan in fields of smart city applications, e-services, IoT, and power-saving and optimization technologies. We are looking for technology creators, not only copiers,” Abbas noted.
